Hello Everyone,
I hope this finds you practicing your creative method, inspired by your muses.
As this is Issue #42, I’m delighted to share that I’ve been writing this newsletter for 3.5 years!
Years ago, my devoted art-partner, Benjamin, and my friend, Christine, were among the first people to encourage me to share my artistic process via this format. Back then, I heard them, and I wanted to write this sort of optimistic prose, but I didn’t sculpt the time. Then, during lockdown, I found myself leaning on art, as I once leaned on my cane to walk, and I began my M&M practice.
What a good challenge it has been to devote time to the processes of writing poetry, prose, and songs, of singing in my witchy closet (kitchen pantry), making collages, assemblages, and video art!
How lovely it has been to celebrate things like: creative pace, art in fragments, studio spaces (interiors and window views), questions, lists, listening, gratitude, joy, collaboration, Halloween, colors, made-up words, patterns and cycles, honoring and supporting other artists, workshops, exploring new media, writing in cafes, seeking inspiration in thrift stores, and most importantly, loving nature – wandering trails, listening to water, noticing animal movement, breathing tree-scent.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and commenting. I hope my ideas or suggestions have helped in your artistic endeavors, and I also hope that you’ll stay in touch, because I’m shifting away from monthly posting, so I can gather these entries, and include some new ideas into (drumroll please)…a Methods & Muses book!
Yay!
And whew!
Some of you might be thinking, “Just what you need, Michelle, another project.”
To you Loves, “I answer, I know I know,” but I will take my time.
I art-practice no other way but slowly.
When the book is complete, I’ll share an announcement here on Substack, and in the meantime, please feel free to: visit my website, text, email, send a postcard, call to arrange a poet-stroll, or reach out intuitively, telepathically, cosmically.
I’ll hear you.
Thank you. May your art guide and nourish, and to quote the brilliant comedian, Bridget Christie, “May all your transitions be joyful!”
Big Love, Michelle
So exciting!! Can’t wait to read the book 😍 Miss you, friend!
